Meet Shannon

Personal

Shannon and Dave

My husband, Dave, and I live near Blackwell Forest Preserve in unincorporated West Chicago. I love to camp, hike and ride bikes. I am an avid reader and am interested in all types of nature studies.

Qualifications

I am a small-business owner who has managed non-profit, service-oriented businesses for over 35 years. My business experiences have taught me to be fiscally conservative, yet realistic in managing assets. I understand the importance of balancing organizational needs with the needs of the community. These skills are vital to the position of Forest Preserve Commissioner.

What do I believe?

Shannon M. Burns

All community services, including Forest Preserve Lands, should be accountable to the general public. As Commissioner of your District, I will work to make sure that the Forest Preserve Lands we enjoy today remain open and safe for use by the public. I will never forget that Forest Preserve Lands belong to you, as a tax payer, and I will work to insure that these precious lands remain available for YOUR use!
